Watch 5K raises money for cancer patients Latest Money News
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) – Hundreds of folks accumulated in downtown Pikeville on Saturday for the 9th annual Colors of Courage 5K.
Lawson Care Center Community Outreach Nurse Makala Little stated all the money raised goes to enhance patients on the heart.
“We just like to get out here in the community, support our cancer patients, our patients at the Lawson Cancer Center. We’re raising money to help them in their time of need,” she defined. “The Lawson Cancer Center has a fund that this money directly goes into, and helps our patients with medication costs they can’t afford.”
Several folks run for family members that experience battled cancer, or are these days going throughout the battle.
Kylie McCoy and her circle of relatives commemorated her brother, Declan, who died from cancer in 2023.
“It just means a lot to us to be here for him,” stated McCoy.
She stated as a circle of relatives, they’re satisfied to be supporting a reason that may assist extra households in want.
“We’ve just got to pray for those people and hope that they get better. This is a good cause, and I think it’s a blessing that we get to do this stuff because some people can’t, like the ones that are sick,” McCoy defined.
